Episode 7: Peter Parker Picked a Pack of Dated References

In this week’s episode, Mike and Drew sling webs and swing through the pages of Ultimate Spider-Man.

  • Talk Nerdy to Me: Drew continues to relive his past with more episodes of Star Trek as mike wraps of Fooly Cooly, watches the Night Watch movie, and discusses a very “Harry” moustache.
  • This week’s challenge: (courtesy of Myles) Mike and Drew read through the first 12 issues of Ultimate Spider-Man. Since Mike wasn’t too keen on Marvel Civil War, maybe USM can change his mind on comics.
  • Next week’s challenge: (courtesy of John) Watch the first season of Big Bad Beetle Borgs! A show that is one part Power Rangers rip-off and one part Adams Family? Here goes nothin…

  1. While I’m bummed Mike didn’t enjoy Ultimate Spider-Man nearly as much as I’d have hoped, there are no hard feelings whatsoever! But I will definitely try to find something Mike may be able to get into. Have either of you read Invincible? It was written for Image Comics by Robert Kirkman, writer of The Walking Dead. Perhaps a character with no previous history, and therefore no preconceptions, may be what Mike needs!
Also, let’s not forget Amanda Bynes has had a bit of fame after All That! She had a few small hits “What A Girl Wants,” and “She’s The Man,” but she’s the only one I could think of who still has a career.
Have either of you tried the demo for Catherine yet? It’s the newest game by the team that developed the last two Persona RPGs for Atlus. It’s a puzzler/social-sim/horror game that, while not all the gameplay is fully revealed in the demo, could present a promising future challenge if you’re looking for a video game experience. Plus, the demo is free, and that never hurts.
